From Toraja to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt

The United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference or Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC, more commonly referred to as COP27 Sharm Elsheikh, was the 27th United Nations Climate Change conference and was held from 6 November to 18 November 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt . The main objective of COP27 is to determine emission reduction targets from each party (country) towards zero emission and agree on various procedures for compensation for loss and damage due to climate change. Who will compensate and who will receive becomes a hot topic of discussion.

In addition, the UN's biggest event is a very appropriate place to convey the work of various organizations related to climate change adaptation and mitigation. COP is also the perfect place to expand your network to various parts of the world, access various parties, and establish cooperation with non-governmental organizations.

The Community Development Motivator (MPM), had the opportunity to present the real work that had been carried out in Tana Toraja and North Toraja at the Indonesia Pavilion on 17 November 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh. The Indonesian government itself highly appreciates MPM's presentation and hopes that MPM will work together with the Directorate General of Climate Change to promote the Climate Village program (PROKLIM). The session where Tandu Ramba from MPM gave a presentation can be seen at https://youtu.be/EU-s78nDpjA.

On the same day a brief meeting with the Climate Action Network South East Asia (CANSEA) to become a member of this network. The result to be achieved from this membership is that MPM has more opportunities to access various funding for climate change activities at the international level.
